Liz Harvey joined the Womens Timber Corps at Castle Kennedy as a volunteer in 1943 at the age of 17.
She trained at Banchory for 6 weeks then worked for a year at a sawmill in Millport, after which she worked at Beuchan farm at Thornhill, felling larch trees. In 1946 she joined the Womans Land Army and spent 3 years in Bristol.
In 1949 she returned to Wigtownshire where she became Mrs Hugh Murray of Kildonnan, Stoneykirk Parish.
Liz and her husband Hugh attended the Opening Ceremony of the Memorial to the World War II "Lumber Jills" which was erected at Aberfoyle in October 2007. Liz has been an Elder of Stoneykirk Parish Church for 21 years.
