The salmon fishing rights at the Dye House which belong to Ardwell Estates were rented for many years by the McQuillon family. There is still shooting on the Estate. When Sir Edward McTaggart Stewart of Southwick inherited Ardwell, one Estate had to be sold to pay death duties. He choose to keep Ardwell as the shooting was better there.
